If Republicans had 60 seats in the Senate, fine, they could do whatever they like. They don't. They need Democratic votes in order to pass a spending bill. That said, Republicans need to give Democrats something to vote for. After shutting down, what has to happen for the government to reopen?

I suggest that every Democrat boycott President Trump's March 4 address to the joint session of Congress. Let him speak to, and let the world see, a half empty chamber. It would be a political slap across the face and demonstrate that half of Americans do not stand with him in his lawlessness.
