Retired artist, old school BSI. I prefer dead authors: Somerset Maugham, Hemingway, Conan Doyle, Ray Bradbury, Thomas Wolfe, T.S. Eliot …. but my reading lamp is dimming.
I see your point. It fell short.

I really liked this movie and I can live with the ending although it could've been better written. The only disappointment I experienced was its Box Office. Also I long felt that particular isolated adventure in Dracula was worth concentrating on.

I've been a fan ever since visiting the Dickens House on Doughty Street in London. I've read GExpectations, Oliver Twist, Bleak House, & Peter Ackroyd's Dickens bio.

You've got a magnificent "artist's eye." I spent my first 12 yrs in NE Ohio along Lake Erie; after that, in the mountains of western PA; and now in SC PA. I've walked & driven, through lonely winter landscapes like that. Next week I play Santa at our local Christmas Chorus/Tree Lighting program.

I've been in this scene many many times in my youth.

I enjoy reading these local posts about Cleveland, even though I haven't been a Ohio resident for almost 60 years. It makes me miss being a part of such an active, friendly, and engaged community!

It’s GREAT to know passionate readers still exist.

I would miss them, too.

Of course one can always read Dickens for pleasure, as some of us have done on occasion. He beats many contemporaries, for my money, but I’m a curmudgeon!

I met him, but only once …. He was swell.

Anything with Karloff and I'm there.

I love this mystical, magical footage.

Perhaps it's time for a reboot.

Wish I could be there ...!

It’s happening here now.

I agree fully. A wonderful look!

Paget is classic, but Steele’s technique is a standout for me. Congrats on your purchase.

Love that cover illustration -- Steele?

This is an ideal terror tale. For more, see The Gothic Tales of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
