the proper way to communicate this, imo, is to exit as soon as the button is hit, and then on the home screen show a subtle toast or auto-dismissing box saying something like “your progress has been saved”.
ultimately it’s an “FYI” thing, not a “are you sure?” thing

If a user thinks it’s possibly a destructive action (since it is in many other games!) & hits the exit button, I think they’re actually much more likely to skim the confirmation dialog (“are you sure? yada yada”) and come away thinking it IS destructive. (I did this with the Runeterra example here)

Communicating to the user that it’s a nondestructive action is definitely an important task, but this is a backwards way of doing it. If a user has already hit the back button, they’ve already expressed intent to leave — you don’t need to stop them & say “are you sure?” if there’s no danger

but also, as a content creator, it seems so obvious that you need to create content that provides some kind of unique, valuable service to have any chance of it landing and finding an audience. variety steaming seems like such hubris, because it’s betting on a personality being that valuable service

almost all the videos/podcasts I consume are because they offer something specific or valuable: information, interesting analysis, a critical review, a novel perspective, etc.
I can’t wrap my head around watching stuff just to hang out, when there’s so much incredibly rich stuff out there

it seems like CR still messed up a ton here because these new subs AREN’T user-configurable, so it’s currently a downgrade in every aspect.
but if they fix that & do enable it, there are legitimate accessibility concerns with hardcoded subs that standardized (user-configurable) captions address
