I was lucky to see the sun rise while hiking around Hall Creek yesterday. The sun was shining light on the tops of the surrounding mountains, giving them pink-orange shades and even a rainbow!

Today, I went back Change Creek Trail but avoided Ollalie Knob and its near death experience section.

The way up was strenuous but better curated than I remembered it. Overall a pleasant challenge with of course a rewarding view on the valley.

Today the top was so X-Files inspiring, Tunguska style, with a deep fog and some eerie scenes.

I love these landscapes of Eastern WA, the Columbia River and Grand Coulee.

Had a bad day. One of those when you're soaking wet only 15 mins in, you're cold, you're angry, then you slip 7 times on the way back and curse out loud in French where nobody can hear you scream.

Thursday nights. I drive downtown, on Front Street, past the kind of places that close early. At the dive bar the jukebox hums low, the pool table waits. I drink beer. I sit still. I absorb the room, the quiet choreography of strangers. It feels good disappearing into something else.

Snow Lake Trail is rocky and a little steep, but the view on the lake is very rewarding. A cloud was partially landing on the lake, which added a gorgeous dynamic to the views.

When the world feels too dark to bear - it did this week - I listen to The Body Electric (Fame, 1980).

Not for nostalgia - those years were no kinder - but for the hope it held. The young faces on screen believed in something. And for a moment, I do too.

Not great air quality index to the east forced me to stay near Issaquah for my Sunday trail. Went to West Tiger for my usual 1, 2, 3 routine.

It was so wet, and foggy, and I got into so many spider webs along the way. Felt like the rain forest a bit.

I went up Mount Si, thinking it could be a cloudy hike. But half up way there the sun showed up, and had a gorgeous view over a sea of white clouds covering the land as far as eye could see.

Whidbey Island, Fort Casey is a windy spot. Perfect for keeping it cool.

Hint on how to detect use of AI in writing a post.

If there's an "em dash", you can be pretty sure AI in involved.

Cause... Who knows how to find an em dash on a keyboard? Also, auto correct doesn't add them on its own.
