If Trump does sue the BBC for $1bn it may leave some of his ideological fellow travellers here in a tricky situation. Do the Conservatives and Reform join in with BBC bashing? Or will doing so be seen as unpatriotic? After all, it would be the British public who would ultimately pay for any damages.

1. The Liberal Democrats now control more councils than the Conservative Party
2. In May's local elections in England, the LDs elected more councillors than either Labour or the Tories.

To quote from Nick Thomas-Symonds’ bio of Harold Wilson (who hated racism), “I’m not prepared to stand aside and see this country engulfed by racial conflict which calculated orators or ignorant prejudice can create”. In 1968 it was in response to Enoch Powell. Not come far in 60 years have we?
