Happily retired super-nerd. Born in Louisville, then to Lexington, back to Louisville, then to Richmond, back to Lexington, BA in English from UK, started JD, off to San Francisco, finished JD, brief stint in Los Gatos, and finally to Daly City. Whew.
Runic weapon is a pretty good buff ...

I really like these. I tend to enjoy "realistic" fantasy art, but these break through my biases, I think because of the colors and angles. They feel evocative of the genre.

They're 6th level right now, BTW. I'm running Seven Dooms for Sandpoint.

(Wait ... they did use Elsie's concoction in Rusthenge. But that's it.)

There's no such thing as, "My dice rolls are always really bad." There *is* such a thing as, "My dice rolls have been really bad for three sessions in a row." It's a distinction that matters, and understanding it is a salve to the soul.

It has to be 100 feet (minimum) above the ground, which seems to very practically makes pseudo-flying not work with the spell.

Re the OP, I don't see any reason to think the cloud moves or is movable by the caster, nor to think those are intended.

She's a psychopath.

I started playing in 1980, and while I'm sure experiences differed, our RPG games were just as not-queer as everything else done openly in Kentucky.

The game hasn't been *ruined* by that changing. The game -- and the hobby -- has *gotten better* by that changing.

Fuck the homophobes and racists.

Absolutely love that.

WTF? "Law enforcement"?

My preferred system is PF1E or PF2E, but when I said "RPG combat is fine," I was including D&D, yeah. I do want clever/fast combat options to be viable in RPGs, even though (or perhaps because?) it's not realistic. (Of course in other types of RPGs, as in RL, guns are the "great equalizer.")

The two biggest factors in a real unarmed fight are reach and mass. Training can balance these things (but usually doesn't, because training needs to be serious and extensive, not strip-mall martial arts). Endurance is also up there, because real fights are *exhausting*.

RPG fighting is fine as is.

My thing is the opposite: I avoid playing any class I've played before, and I never play anything similar to what I've played recently. (I do have a tendency -- just a tendency -- toward humans (or half-humans) and away from elves and anthropomorphics, though, when it comes to ancestries.)
November 21, 2025 at 7:05 PM
It doesn't even take intention. I'm an expert at PF1E, and I've *accidentally* built broken PCs while literally trying to build second-line characters so new players could take the spotlight! (But yeah ... *lot* of RPGers in it to find broken combos. Wide-eyed naïf crap just makes me suspicious.)

Places I’ve played D&D:

Basement (surprisingly little), dining room (not a lot), screen-porch (on nice days), tent (occasionally at early GenCons), hotel room (same), convention center (oh, yeah; 30+ GenCons), game room (I've had a dedicated game room for 25 years now).

5E and PF2E (and probably a few others) are well over 2000 pages!

I am in no way advocating violence against Trump, but I am STRONGLY of the belief that certain foul behaviors can be curtailed by copious early-to-mid-life absolute ass-beatings. And he clearly did not get a single one of the -- estimating -- 20 or so bloody beatdowns he needed.
November 20, 2025 at 12:30 AM
You're absolutely right, but ... consider the alternatives he has, you know?

(I think, for the sake of "I'm-the-Scammer-in-Chief" accuracy, his official portrait should be one of the more ridiculous NFTs. (But no, I can't narrow that down.))
November 19, 2025 at 8:51 PM
"Well, X is my target, and Y used Exploit Vulnerability on X, so ... "

PF2E jumps through extreme hoops to avoid this. I'm not presenting any judgment on whether this is worthwhile, but I will point out that some players manipulate "attack" versus "hostile action" whereever they possibly can.

Captain America (Steve Rogers) is very, very much lawful good, FWIW.
