Marketing numbers aren’t finalized until way after release. Most numbers we see are guesses based on films of the same size or that studio’s other past work. I blame the trades and small sites for throwing random darts, not WB.

I just got out 2 hours ago but I was slightly annoyed that they still used a joke to break the emotional tone each time.
