I really enjoy the Kings' broadcast. The play-by-play guy is really good and Kayte Christensen is a solid analyst who keeps things light. The team is terrible, though.

What a draft class. Edgecombe and Coward are already good and are going to be great.

My favorite parts of NBA games always start with this shot 🐐

The Spurs' two losses are not concerning, but the way the offense has looked is. Way too predictable. Teams are staying on shooters and daring ball handlers to play one-on-one. Little off-ball movement. But who knows? Maybe better shooting fixes everything.

There should be a breathalyzer for trade machines. I shouldn't be able to build this abomination and convince myself it makes sense.

The Spurs showed they can compete with anyone. Now it's all about figuring out how to hold leads. Too often they outplay teams for stretches but not the full 48. They are young. They'll learn. The Cup run should help with that.

Fun Cup. Good on the Knicks. Kolek definitely earned that extra cash. As for the Spurs, they are healthy and should be hungrier. The rest of the season should be fun.

Harrison Barnes can't hit a three to save his life, but his work on defense guarding KAT and switching to Brunson has been important. So were those drives in the first half.

It might seem like a minor thing, but Wemby calling for switches off ball so that he can be the low man shows that he's not just a defensive beast because of his physical tools. He's smart, too.

By virtue of advancing to the NBA Cup semis, the Spurs' Dec. 17 home game against Washington has been bumped a day to the 18th.

It creates an extra back-to-back, with the Spurs facing a game at Atlanta on the 19th.

More Cup-related scheduling wonkiness ...

Fantastic win by the Spurs. From Mitch Johnson's game plan to the Fox-Castle-Harper trio figuring out their usage balance, it all went well. If they can keep this versatile offense going when Wembanyama returns, they could be scary. www.poundingtherock.com/spurs-analys...
A healthy, evolving Spurs team should scare the rest of the NBA
The Spurs survived and in some ways improved despite big absences. Now they could level up as they get to full strength.

Mitch Johnson's coaching has been great so far. Making Luka a scorer, pushing the pace, trimming the rotation. Impressive. Now he needs the Spurs to close well against a great clutch team.

Luka Doncic has 24 points at the half but only two assists. The Lakers have only made five threes. The Spurs will take that.
December 11, 2025 at 4:19 AM
This feels like a Jeremy Sochan at center game. Switch everything, guard the pick and roll using just two, stay with shooters, let Luka get 50 but no one else gets going

Devin Vassell had just five field goal attempts against the Pelicans. He already has three in the opening minutes of the first quarter. No makes yet, but it's good that the Spurs are trying to get him involved.

Minnesota is good. The threes didn't fall for the Spurs. It happens. It was a winnable game, but it's not a painful or shocking loss.
December 1, 2025 at 2:20 AM
The Spurs are facing The Math Problem. They have 12 more points in the paint but the Wolves have made seven more threes. They need to hit some outside shots or hope Minnesota starts missing them

Carter Bryant getting playing time over David Jones-Garcia makes perfect sense, thinking about the long term, but DJG would probably help the Spurs more right now. The extra ball handling and shot making would be useful

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm really enjoying this college basketball game. Arkansas is scrappy and fun and Boozer is great

In all seriousness, he's been good this year. The shotmaking has been good. He will probably never be super consistent, but he could be a key piece going forward if the jumpers keep falling and the defense remains disruptive
Congratulations, Devin Vassell! You've earned a week without me including you in some fake trade that would never happen.

Huge Julian Champagnie game so far. He's starting to become a well-rounded guy instead of just a 3-and-D player. The next step is to stop stepping out of bounds on corner threes...

Sochan at center is not working. The dribble hand-offs are going nowhere. The big drops, the wings are not pulling up. Sochan's at his best when he's moving a lot. Need to switch things up. Either play Olynyk or have the guards screen.

The Spurs have gone 10 deep in the first quarter. Mitch Johnson is in experimentation mode again. Interesting.
