One reason why we need to have a working theory about the endgame is that Trump has no filter and no way of realizing that he's saying things he's not supposed to say. He's going to slip up and drop clues, and we need to be able to recognize them as such instead of just pointing and laughing.

Mike knows that a certain dementia patient is concerned that the Democrats will drag us all behind Kruschev's Iron Curtain.

Johnson on nuking the filibuster: "Is it wise? A lot of people would tell you it's not. I mean, on the Republican side, I would be deeply concerned if the Democrats had a bare majority in the Senate right now of Marxist ideology taking over the Democrat Party...turning us into a communist country"

In related news, local dementia patient insists the big white house has always been his and that N-word that you can't say and the guy who fell off a bike that time never should have been allowed inside.

My mom and her roommate in the memory care facility used to fight over who owned the place. Both were convinced they'd lived there all their lives.

Neither one thought of building a ballroom there, though, or putting up gold spray-painted doodads all over the walls.

Delete "Trump and" and replace "they" with "he" in that sentence and it's more correct.

Also transparent is the fact that Miller will never succeed in the long run because his plans put us on death ground, so he's really just another set of keys being dangled in our faces. Who is dangling them?
jellenhovey.bsky.social
Here's a game I'd like for everyone to play: "Let's focus on figuring out what the endgame is here, so that when Trump slips up and says something he was told to keep secret, we'll recognize it for what it really means and not just point and laugh at him for being a dotard"

just a suggestion
jellenhovey.bsky.social
I assume that aides like Miller are feeding Trump's fantasy of being king someday to keep him happy while they manipulate him.

Who is feeding Miller's fantasy of becoming the head of the fascist state he dreams of?

You know, the one in which the rest of us are the janitors?

When my older sister and I visited our mom in the memory care unit, my mom didn't recognize me, but since she did recognize my sister, she pretended that I wasn't a complete stranger to her.

Without Jeffrey there as a point of reference, he can barely pretend to remember who she is.

I want to know what the endgame is.

Someone (probably not Trump) has a master strategy and everything we're seeing is in the service of that.

Are there no strategists gaming this out? Or are we left to make tinfoil hats for ourselves as we try to figure it out on our own?

Example of mine:
Stephen Crowder "change my mind" meme where the text is "We're being decapitated so that our remains can be sold off for cheap" that I posited as a theory as to why Hegseth is trying to gut senior leadership in the military and Vought et al. are trying to terminate experienced, capable senior personnel across federal agencies: if the goal is to damage us to the point where we are taken over in a relatively bloodless coup by the ones who are going to swoop in and buy everything up for pennies on the dollar, then the last thing the admin wants is someone who could stand in the way of success. Maybe the buyer is the Saudis, maybe the Chinese, but this theory holds that someone is going to buy the dip as soon as it's low enough. For example, who will stop the Chinese from buying up the soybean farms when the farmers go bankrupt?

At this juncture, I think "delusions" or "fantasies" are a more accurate term than "lies." Calling them "lies" implies that he isn't confabulating or just repeating things that Miller told him.

Like repeating his doctor's advice about being cool when he goes down the stairs.

So it looks like Venezuela will be the wag the dog thing.

I know that it's bad to root for Guiteau. Maybe Ronald McDonald will finally get him instead.

But I still believe there is no other realistic moment at which our current trajectory ends.
jellenhovey.bsky.social
so either a hardcore maga who has just been told he's stupid & his support isn't wanted is gonna turn out to be the Guiteau of our time

or there will be some big wag the dog thing intended to draw everyone's attention or cause riots & invocation of the Insurrection Act

something's gotta give
jellenhovey.bsky.social
C'mon already, modern-day Guiteau. Your destiny awaits.

I wish someone would make a movie version of "It Can't Happen Here" (staying true to the 1935 novel). It would help people understand what a fascist US regime would actually be doing versus the wannabe stuff Trump & Co. are trying.

From ch. 26, about 4 chapters before Jessup is sent to the camp:
Pages 316 and 317 from the 1935 novel by Sinclair Lewis, available for free with audio option at https://archive.org/details/itcanthappenhere00lewi_0/page/316/mode/2up

He was a Vermonter, though, not a Rhode Islander. He didn't leave until he was helped to escape to Canada from the concentration camp, and only after having been beaten, etc. And he didn't stay long because he wanted to come back and fight.

I guess that's how I see you, too.
jellenhovey.bsky.social
I just realized that as I was reading "It Can't Happen Here" (Sinclair Lewis, 1935) my mental picture of Doremus Jessup was ... you.
jellenhovey.bsky.social
That's a lotta white guys behind him.

I'm sure @jaketapper.bsky.social wouldn't be interested in this because it isn't Joe Biden going on about how he saw somebody named Osama Bin Laden a year before he blew up the WTC and didn't like it.
jellenhovey.bsky.social
"please remember that I wrote about Osama Bin Laden exactly one year ago, one year before he blew up the World Trade Center, and I said you gotta watch Osama Bin Laden…I said one year before to Pete Hegseth, one year before—where’s Pete?… I saw somebody named Osama Bin Laden and I didn’t like it..."

Maybe it wasn't meant to be funny.

Here are my rankings for buyers as of today:
1. The House of Saud
2. The Chinese Communist Party
3. A coalition of techbros with Elon Musk at the head

I'm putting the techbros last because I think they're a willing decoy.

As for The Russian Federation - pfft they more broke than us
jellenhovey.bsky.social
Guys, it's time for some game theory.

It's becoming clear to me that the goal here is the same as the goal of private equity: a leveraged buyout, then gut us, then force us into bankruptcy, then sell our remains for pennies on the dollar.

My question now is, to whom are they selling us?
jellenhovey.bsky.social
@radiofreetom.bsky.social Tom, does it seem to you at all that things are being rushed? Wouldn't the better strategy have been to gradually build up to the point where the military intervention was seen as inevitable and necessary, instead of hastily slapped together with ICE cosplay guys?

‼️ Russia: “China has tightened export restrictions, making it virtually impossible for Russia to obtain Chinese machine tools with a precision of 3-4 microns.”

👉 Virtually impossible

Thus any they are able to get are likely to be VERY EXPENSIVE.

I know this is an old post, but I'd like to revisit it. I think it's becoming clearer. Time is running out for Mr. Art Of The Deal to close escrow on us. Probably still haggling over price at this point, but it won't be long now before we know who our new owner is.

We know who the broker is. The only question I have now is, who is the buyer?
jellenhovey.bsky.social
I've been unable to accept that all of the things that have been happening since January are just "Trump being Trump" and pointless chaos for the sake of chaos and easy grifting.

There has been a point to it. Given the obvious state of Trump's physical health, I think we'll soon know what it is.
jellenhovey.bsky.social
our electeds, but I think there must be an overarching goal here. Is all of this being done just to get us out of NATO and turn us into a global pariah?

If so, to what end? Supposing it's successful, then what?

We can't cut them off at the pass if we don't know where the pass is. Thank you.
