A yellow Clivia blooming now in my shaded courtyard. Grown from seed alongside the more common orange and red.
The orange bloomed first, followed by yellow. Reds have not yet bloomed. I had expected them to bloom together. Maybe different species rather than colour variations? 🤷♂️

It's Clivia season again! You can set your calendar by it.
The pale yellow is a good contrast to the brilliant orange.
Grown from seed. They are a fascinating seed to germinate if bought from a grower. Takes about 3 years to bloom. Still awaiting the red labelled seeds to bloom.

Red Ginger, Alpinia purpurata, lights up a corner of the Tropical Dome at Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens in Brisbane. Although the start of our Australian winter, the humidity in the Dome stopped me from lingering too long, but the tropical plants thrive in it.

Just finished this read which took me far too long! Way out of my usual genre of Crime Fiction and True Crime, I still found it absorbing. Weaving two stories from two wars (WWII and Afghanistan) together, the ending brings the two together in a satisfying conclusion. A good read!

Just finished this read which took me far too long! Way out of my usual genre of Crime Fiction and True Crime, I still found it absorbing. Weaving two stories from two wars (WWII and Afghanistan) together, the ending brings the two together in a satisfying conclusion. A good read!

The maps of the Central Asian republics of Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 and Tajikistan 🇹🇯 look pretty odd too as they wrap around each other.

But I'd agree not as weird as The Gambia.

Update on my pineapple, grown in a pot in my courtyard from the leafy top of a store-bought pineapple. It was a deliciously sweet fruit, so hoping this will be too.😋

A couple of years ago I planted the leafy top of a store-bought pineapple 🍍 in a pot. I've just noticed it's now fruiting. I'll keep an eye on its progress.
