I’m giving my first ever in-class midterm tomorrow and thought you got a commemorative hat or some erstwhile swag for the occasion. Welcome to my Midterm Era.

Policies teach. Enable simultaneous enrollments, and students hear "attendance doesn’t matter." Make class attendance optional, and don’t be surprised when administrators hand your lectern and your job over to AI.

My father served in the National Guard, so I'm aware that >40% are parents. If he’d been sent to “police” Portland or Chicago, my brothers and I would have been confused and heartbroken. If "pro-family" means anything, it isn't deploying parents for a GI Joe fantasy, w kids as collateral damage.

What a terrible ordeal, Ed. I’m so glad you are okay.

We invented graduated drivers licenses for teens. They worked. But we leave 80-year-olds to “see how it goes.” Every family suffers on their own. But this is a shared social problem, not a personal one. We need conditional licenses for older drivers. Daylight. Local. Annual medical check-ins.

This is heinous, unforgivable behavior. This is systemic child abuse. This is flagrant disregard for children's humanity and fundamental rights. It is a policy that reveals the thoroughgoing moral depravity of its authors.

Shelters that house unaccompanied minors are bracing for "Freaky Friday," the start of an ICE operation that will first issue letters to children, seeking to pressure them to return to the countries they've fled in exchange for a cash payment. If they decline, their parents will be targeted by ICE.

Schools will respond with within grade or within classroom ability grouping and/or people will exit. The ratio of political capital spent to actual change in kids’ exposure and experiences is super unfavorable, so agree this is an unfortunate move and giveaway to Cuomo.

Each time it feels like the floor, it drops lower: reports of children zip-tied by ICE in a Chicago raid.

“ABC7 spoke to Pertissue Fisher, a woman who lives in the building. She said ICE agents took everyone in the building, including her, and asked questions later….’They was bringing the kids down, too, had them zip tied to each other.’”

It can’t happen here, you say. But it is happening.
