#Globalhealth isn’t just done by governments. The private sector has efficient research & development pipelines and #vaccine delivery systems that can help efficiently target those with the most need. #Globalaid is can benefit communities while also investing in US business.

What an honor to meet Dr. Peter McElroy, Deputy Chief of the Parasitic Diseases Branch at the CDC. The CDC has the tools and partnerships to effectively prevent, detect, and strategically respond to #malaria, but funding interruptions remain the biggest challenge to elimination.

It’s crucial to remember when discussing #globalhealth programs is that they are driven by bilateral interventions. Countries receiving global aid know the issues and the gaps. They come to the table with their own solutions, which we can support to build stable, self-reliant systems.

Dr. Jerome Adams started us off with some important reminders. When you give to another community, you’re not taking away from your own.

“For every patient I treat in the operating room, there’s 100 patients I can’t see. Public health allows me to have that reach.”

“Pathogens move faster than politics… Disease surveillance abroad is the first step to protection at home.”

Brian Massa opens the United to Beat Malaria / Shot@Life joint National Advocacy Summit with a reminder on why the US cannot step back from #globalhealth.

Honored to present my #malaria research for the second time at @NHMU’s Scientist in the Spotlight. From staining blood smears IDing to #parasites under the microscope, it was a privilege to engage visitors and teach about the #science of asymptomatic malaria in #Cameroon.

Malaria affects us all. Over half the world’s population live in endemic areas, and in the age of globalization, no one is safe until it’s gone. It increases susceptibility to other infections & overwhelms healthcare systems, inhibiting surveillance/prevention for other diseases. #BeatMalaria
