Guess it’s finally time for me to take an advanced course in electro-acoustics so I can learn to use SuperCollider.

It’s actually led me to feeling like playing on physical instruments is more inspiring these days which isn’t a bad thing at all. Sometimes I just get nostalgic for the Wild West independent digital plugin days of the Shabloinko 9000’s.

Missing the days when music production tools were more unique and original. Even those previously cool DAW feature upgrades seem to be increasingly boring standard fare. I wish there was more creative effort in developing original tools that break new sonic ground.

I mean it’s great that every developer has a voltage accurate emulation of the vintage minimoog or LA-2A units. When you can already dial in that retro sound or create just about any forward thinking unique synth sound in Serum what’s the point in being invested in growing your plugin collection?

The tendency (at least in this country) is for right-wingers to be accelerationists and for the left the approach is to be slow and piecemeal. This leaves our liberal politics to be an ecosystem where progress is only possible when the right moves too fast and screws up, as they always do.
