Apparently inspired by yesterday's embarrassing loss in court, Trump has ordered California Gov. Gavin Newsom to send 300 of that state's National Guard members to Portland. Oregon Gov. Kotek says 100 have already arrived, while at the ICE facility, federal agents are growing more violent.

The transformation along the waterfront is amazing! I had not been down there on my last few trips to Seattle. I have to admit, though, that I could have used some more shade there today. Living in the Pacific Northwest has dampened my San Diego roots an tolerance for hot sunshine.

FYI, the section I walked down and posted the photos from is between Lenora and Stewart streets -- a few blocks south of the area with Amazon HQ and the streetcar.

Speaking of street transformations, the new restrictions motor vehicles on Pike Place outside the market made me enjoy the place far more then my visit in 2008.
The pilot project was a window of opportunity (street repair work), a common origin for street transformations.(repost with gif)
