There is no time to delay. No one can afford premium hikes like this, and the solution--extending the premium tax credit enhancements--is clear.

Georgia’s 2026 ACA marketplace window shopping began October 1, meaning people are already seeing next year’s premiums spike because of expiring tax credit enhancements. A typical 60-year-old couple making $85,000 in Georgia will face a $24,900 increase in annual premiums. (1/4)

Congress should do the responsible thing and extend enhanced PTCs now, to prevent massive coverage loss and ensure people like Kat, who don’t have an offer of employer coverage, can continue to afford coverage and get the health care they need. www.cbpp.org/research/hea...

Open enrollment (OE) begins in just 26 days (except in Idaho where OE begins in 9 days). The more time that passes, the more people will become uninsured. www.cbpp.org/charts/marke...

Another complication: More than 1/2 of enrollees typically re-enroll automatically in mid-Dec., staying in the same plan. They may not learn about their higher premiums until they get their bill for Jan, leaving just a few weeks in Jan. to adjust before OE ends. www.kff.org/affordable-c...

Because of uncertainty about prices and PTCs, CMS let insurers omit 2026 premiums for renewal notices this year. Some state-based marketplaces will send notices w/more information, but many people will be blindsided when they return to the marketplace to shop. www.cms.gov/files/docume...

CBO estimated that 3.8M ppl will become uninsured if the PTC enhancements end. And last year, CBO estimated that if Congress waits to extend PTC enhancements until Dec. 31, 1.5 million more ppl will become uninsured in 2026 vs if they were extended at an earlier date. punchbowl.news/archive/9162...

Some policymakers say that that Congress can delay extending the Premium Tax Credit (PTC) enhancements until later this year but the problem is more urgent than that. thehill.com/policy/healt...

Since 2021, ACA marketplace enrollment more than doubled for people with low incomes and for Black and Latino enrollees after premium tax credit enhancements. (1/4)

What do tipped workers, veterans, small business workers, farmers, and older people have in common? All stand to see massive premium hikes if the ACA marketplace premium tax credit enhancements aren't extended. My colleague @gidlukens.bsky.social explains more ⬇️

Premium tax credit enhancements help tipped workers, veterans, small business workers, farmers, and older people afford health coverage. Their premiums will soon spike and millions of them will lose coverage if the enhancements expire. (1/5)

The mic-drop in a critical thread from my colleague @shelbytgonzales.bsky.social on false claims around health coverage for people who are immigrants. 🎤⬇️⬇️
shelbytgonzales.bsky.social
False claims focused on people who lack a documented status mislead the public by implying they get federal health coverage. That’s not true and blurs the impact of the megabill while distracting from urgent efforts to prevent coverage losses and cost hikes for U.S. citizens.

Why are #ACA marketplace plans with $0 premiums important? My colleague @nicolerapfogel.bsky.social explains:

More than 22M people rely on #ACA marketplaces for their health coverage. But unless Congress acts, enhanced premium tax credits will expire this year, driving premiums up nearly 20% & leaving about 7M people uninsured. Here are five key changes to watch: www.cbpp.org/research/hea...

The vast majority of the >23 million ACA marketplace enrollees will face substantial out-of-pocket premium increases in 2026 if Congress doesn’t extend the enhanced premium tax credits soon.

The Republican House bill would take away health coverage and raise health care costs for millions of people who rely on Medicaid or #ACA marketplaces for coverage. Read more about the harmful policies in this bill in our summary here: www.cbpp.org/research/hea...
A list of five ways the House-passed reconciliation bill takes health coverage away from people and raises health care costs: Medicaid work reporting requirements, enrollment red tape, cuts to immigrant eligibility, higher cost-sharing, and premium spikes for marketplace enrollees.

The bill House Republicans passed early this morning would strip coverage from roughly 15 million people to help fund tax cuts for the wealthy. Read more about the bill's harmful health agenda in our new @centeronbudget.bsky.social paper: www.cbpp.org/research/hea...

New @centeronbudget.bsky.social analysis of the draft GOP tax plan released yesterday:

Unsurprisingly, it provides enormous tax cuts for the wealthy—including an average annual $65k cut for the top 1%—while doing little for low- and moderate-income families in 2027 (and even less by 2029).
