Books Save Lives.

Find your courage.
Follow your moral compass.
Do not obey in advance.

Banning books for kids — for all humans — is a form of violence.

Books Save Lives.

One of the ugliest "B" words in the English language. You know which one I mean.

This video of Chicagoans intervening to save a man from being abducted off the streets by ICE is making the rounds on Instagram.

Community action works.

Guy in white tshirt, jeans, mask in a goddamn Nissan? These are not officials. These are hired thugs. We should all be horrified.

I love sharing titles with my students! @joellenmccarthy.bsky.social & Julia Torres recommend books in Seasons of Literacy. October is an interesting month for the school library: Hispanic Heritage Month, Halloween, Day of the Dead, Banned Books Week…#LibrariesTransform #ReadingTeacherWrites

ALA and partners have submitted a joint letter urging the FCC to reconsider overturning the E-Rate rule and to protect these vital programs that expand internet access for students and library patrons across America.
Text graphic of a quote from ALA President Sam Helmick: "One in five households in our country still do not have access to reliable home broadband. Hotspots are not a permanent fix, but they'll make sure students, jobseekers, veterans and seniors don't get left behind. The need is urgent, especially in rural areas. The funding is there, through the federal E-Rate program. The experienced delivery mechanism is there, through the 1,762 public libraries approved by the FCC to loan hotspots to their communities. Chairman Carr's move to repeal the program next week looks like one more tactic of this administration to limit Americans’ access to information."

We have many families who use our community wi-fi, streets wi-fi, and hotspots for educational and work purposes. Needed resources!

NEW: the FCC has added two last-minute agenda items—the Hotspot Lending Program and School Bus Wi-Fi—to its September 30 meeting. The Commission is expected to overturn the programs, despite the proven impact of hotspots and existing funding through the federal E-Rate program.
Text graphic that reads: "FCC's plans to kill new federal hotspot lending rule are one more tactic to limit access to information." Bottom includes "Show Up For Our Libraries" graphic and American Library Association logo.

I love this interview! It’s interesting to hear the stories that go into creating a book. A Newbery-Medal-winning book, too!

Remember, this is the same “president” that wanted to inject bleach into people to cure Covid-19. Dr Fauci wouldn’t support his idea.
