In the south where i grew up, we'd say "this past tuesday" for two days ago, "tuesday past week" for 9 days ago, "next tuesday" for 5 days from now, and "tuesday week" for 12 days from now. It's a little confusing, but i've found in LA people are VERY unclear about these things
