Recently, I had to interpret for my Auntie. Hospital claimed 2 week wait, didn't know who had contract. She had only six days before passing away. Experiences like this only deepen my frustration with a system that awards contracts to providers who fail #Deaf people #interpreting 4/4

In 2022, @signalisecoop.bsky.social contacted registers and academics to clarify views on family as interpreters, as opinions varied. Most agreed it’s only acceptable if chosen by the Deaf person and the family member is a registered professional. Though some disagreed.
