New Zealand is a signatory to the Global Methane Pledge, but is doing less and less about our methane emissions. Methane, renewables, and energy efficiency measures together would reduce global heating by 1 degC. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Overshoot: returning to 1.5°C requires net-negative emissions targets. @swp-berlin.org policy brief with Oliver Geden.

Keeping 1.5 alive will require reframing “net-zero” as transitional stage towards net-negative GHG emissions rather than an endpoint, and policy instruments able to deliver this.
Overshoot: Returning to 1.5°C Requires Net-negative Emissions Targets
Global warming is set to rise above 1.5°C by the early 2030s. Returning to 1.5°C before the end of the 21st century would not prevent all harms...

This letter was written by E.B White (author of Charlotte's Web and many other books), to a man who had written to him in despair for the human race. It seems more relevant than ever in these troubled times.

The reason why protest is essential to political change is that only when people *see* the scale of discontent do they realise they are not alone, and that the tide can turn.

Did you know how much of the power generation capacity added each year world-wide was in renewables?

2022 it was 80 %
2023 it was 86 %
2024 it was 92,5 %

Not because the whole world suddenly turned „woke“, but because it’s the cheapest!
