Today marks another first for California!

With AB 1264, the first law of its kind in the nation, we’re banning ultra-processed foods and drinks in our schools.

We refuse to settle for less than what our children deserve.
governor.ca.gov
California is the first state to define ultra-processed foods and phase them out of school meals.

DC politicians can talk all day about "Making America Healthy Again," but we've been walking the walk on boosting nutrition and removing toxic additives and dyes for decades.

Trump is dangling federal dollars to make universities gut their values and surrender academic freedom. It’s a despicable bargain that corrodes everything higher education stands for.

California refuses to bend the knee.
governor.ca.gov
IF ANY CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY SIGNS THIS RADICAL AGREEMENT, THEY'LL LOSE BILLIONS IN STATE FUNDING — INCLUDING CAL GRANTS — INSTANTLY.

CALIFORNIA WILL NOT BANKROLL SCHOOLS THAT SELL OUT THEIR STUDENTS, PROFESSORS, RESEARCHERS, AND SURRENDER ACADEMIC FREEDOM.
New York Times: "Trump Administration Asks Colleges to Sign ‘Compact’ to Get Funding Preference."

The White House asked nine top universities to pledge support for President Trump’s agenda to help ensure access to research funding.

Thinking of everyone observing Yom Kippur today. Wishing you strength in your fast and space for mindfulness and renewal.

G’mar chatima tova.

As Jewish communities in California and across the world gather tonight for Yom Kippur, Jen and I wish those observing an easy fast and meaningful reflection.

G’mar chatima tova.

Her tree planting and reforestation work holds a special place in my heart, and I’m grateful to have been part of it here in California.

She was a role model and a friend, and the wonder and humanity she embodied will never leave me.

Jane Goodall changed how we see the world. She carved paths for women in conservation, deepened our kinship with animals and one another, and built programs for research, education, and sanctuaries that will outlast us all.
governor.ca.gov
Jane Goodall was a global legend at the forefront of discovery — breaking through barriers for women in primatology, science, and beyond.

Her curiosity, strength, and kindness changed the world, bridging countries and cultures in pursuit of a better future.

We remember Dr. Jane Goodall — trailblazing scientist & advocate for our planet. 🌎💚 In her 90th year, Californians planted 90K+ trees with CA Climate Action Corps, creating a living legacy.

We cannot allow this violence to become normalized, we need common-sense gun laws to protect our communities and confront hate.

Gavin and I are heartbroken by the shooting in Grand Blanc. To be attacked while gathered in prayer, in the middle of sacred service, is unthinkable.

Our hearts are with the Latter-day Saints community and every family who entered church seeking peace but faced terror.

Jen and I are keeping Grand Blanc in our hearts today. Churches must always be places of safety and strength — an attack harming one community of faith is an attack on us all. California stands with Michigan and the Latter-day Saints community.

I left this gathering inspired by endless possibilities for partnership and the opportunity to keep uplifting female founders and funders (and everyone who believes in them). Because when capital flows to women, it doesn’t just generate better returns, it strengthens our communities and environment.
jensiebelnewsom.bsky.social
As a result, few female founders’ ideas are able to scale. This impact shapes who gets to go public, what innovations truly matter, and what our culture ultimately values.
jensiebelnewsom.bsky.social
It’s a gift to share space in rooms like this one, full of women working to expand capital allocation, women who know the uphill battle firsthand.

We’ve seen progress, but across venture capital, private equity, and other forms of capital allocation, barriers remain.

Shanah Tovah to all who celebrate!

Wishing you a sweet new year filled with love and cherished moments with those who matter most.

As Rosh Hashanah begins, @jensiebelnewsom.bsky.social and I send our warmest wishes to all celebrating across California. May this New Year bring you health and happiness with loved ones.

Shanah Tovah!

I could not be prouder that California is implementing the strongest laws in the nation to protect our communities.

Our places of learning and healing must never be turned into the hunting grounds this federal administration has tried to make them out to be.
governor.ca.gov
The new laws I just enacted are a direct response to Trump's lawless immigration raids and arrests in California.

California is fighting to end this chaos by:

💥 Requiring schools and public hospitals to limit access and implement privacy protocols to protect against Trump’s immigration chaos.

Public safety hinges on the trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve — a bond that's been shredded by the reckless immigration quotas ordered by Donald Trump and Stephen Miller.

We will keep standing up for Californians against this administration's dangerous actions.

Today’s announcement on the @calvolunteers.bsky.social Men’s Service Challenge calls on 10,000 men to step forward as mentors and coaches, offering the care and connection that can combat today's isolation and build belonging.
jensiebelnewsom.bsky.social
Our boys are growing up in a time when too many feel disconnected and unseen. Women and men may face different challenges, but we share a responsibility to lift up the next generation, and that work will take all of us.
governor.ca.gov
I’m launching the California Men’s Service Challenge to inspire service, leadership, and community engagement among Californians.

In partnership with @calvolunteers.bsky.social, we're calling on 10,000 men to step up as mentors, coaches, and tutors to serve their communities.

A child of California, Robert was a man of boundless creativity and great empathy.

He will be sorely missed, but his legacy will live on through all those that he touched and the millions more he inspired.

He was familiar with difficulty and unafraid of a challenge; he understood the complexities of life and found beauty in the small details.

Robert's care for the world we live in was reflected in his actions, through his environmental work, and through the Sundance Institute.

jensiebelnewsom.bsky.social
I know this celebration comes at a time when too many Latino families and communities feel unsafe. That reality makes it even more important to say that California values you, and stands with you.

Not only this month, but every month, we will continue fighting for your rights, safety, and dreams.
