When I was a public librarian in Dallas, people were very interested in both social services and leisure activities provided by the library, but many were not able to attend without transferring buses, sometimes twice.

[warning: library nerd rant] They did this in Milwaukee, with 93 affordable units over a new library.

What I like about the Milwaukee project and others like it is that in addition to creating affordable housing, it helps remove a significant barrier to accessing library services- transportation.

I went to grad school in Milwaukee and met my husband there. I met some truly amazing people there and we loved going to Brewers’ games (they weren’t great back then, though!) This is coming from someone who married into a family of huge Cubs fans.

My first attempt at baguettes didn’t turn out looking very “baguette-y” but I’m happy with the crust, texture and taste so I’m counting it as a win!

My neighborhood’s hottest attraction* is apparently a very cool backhoe.

*for toddlers

It’s actually really cute, multiple families have walked over to see this very exciting piece of equipment and the tots are stoked
