Thought I’d introduce Bsky to my newest bestie, Bernice! 🐮🌀

We met Bernice near Crawford, NE in mid August. Her friends had all peaced out but her curiosity won & she stayed to watch me fly (er, flail) out of the car & set up my shot. It’s probably one of my favorite shots to date.

Thanks for the warm welcome back, Bsky. It’s so much more pleasant here without the daily episode of Idiocracy. 🙃

Here’s a Colorado supercell from August resulting from 3 (three!) storm mergers. 🌀 Got a tad surprised by the intensity & thusly was a little closer than usual…

Forgot this platform existed bc the engagement on here is 🗑️ but I’m gonna post a few recent photos anyway & we’ll see how it goes.

Here’s a Colorado #fall shot from an iconic spot but IMO the clouds are what make it. 🍁⛅️

If your local National Weather Service office has paused or canceled spotter training this year, here’s a great option! 🌪️

@comet-meted.bsky.social has teamed up with the National Weather Service (NWS) to develop a (totally free!) online storm spotter certification course. 🌪️⛈️⚡️

It’s really hard to establish a sense of scale for the Kilauea eruptions, even being here in person - so a big thank you to the USGS folks who conveniently positioned their vehicles near the crater wall to collect tephra during Episode 14. Do you see em? 🌋🛻

Taking in Kilauea, March 4, 2025 🌋

It’s only fitting that a photo include Mauna Loa, my first volcano, that changed my photography (& interests) forever. I love how it looms behind Kilauea, overseeing the new eruption.
