Neural dynamics of incremental structure building in spoken language comprehension. This schematic shows how speech is segmented into words, which are incrementally integrated into a hierarchical syntactic structure with an interpretation. The amount of structure built at each word, quantified via incremental node count, is reflected in the dynamics of the network, which lead to a neural signal measurable with magnetoencephalography.
