I can imagine great idea people, supporting awesome game designers, with appealing marketing, and efficient logistical distribution, with easy access and use of the game. All of this managed with stable and experienced business practice. Is this the future Wizards is targeting? Yes. Others can also.

Why the need for outstanding marketing? My impression from EN World Live, is that maintenance sales are stable, but growth is not. My impression from Roll For Combat is that growth is stable. Can you imagine a world in which Roll for Combat and EN Publishing are on the same team? I think I can.

An online digital tool set can increase ease of use. I have anecdotal evidence of players resistance to using a game without online resources. Ease of use allows faster onboarding of the game into a group and increase the probability of repeated use. EN Publishing has an example, levelupgateway.com

I'm not a professional in the gaming industry and I'm not trained in business. It occurs to me, a path to continuous distribution and interest in a game will need to include not only a PDF but also an online digital tool set owned by the company. It will need to include outstanding marketing. Why?

When considering manufacturing, I'm thinking of standard work (i.e. work instructions) and sub-assemblies. In character creation are there sub-assemblies that can pieced together to create a character. The design should consider ease of assembly. I hear the new D&D starter set has this feature.

Of the industries I listed Architecture is interesting. Would architects have skills or tools to help draw the eye to important design features on a character sheet? Would the skill set include ways to design interesting and eye appealing maps?

I personally don't have a need for this information, but I find it interesting how other industries may have processes or tools which can be applied unexpectedly. I often find value in using DM skills while preparing presentations or communicating with team members at work.

This announcement, a lot of hope, and cost of transition is keeping me on Roll20. I'm hoping the Demiplane 5e character sheet is developed and launched in the next 12 months. It should allow me to more easily run ToV, A5e, or Victoriana.

$260 investment for RPG hobbies can be relatively small compared to the $$ I spent on the Cosmer RPG or Warhammer 40K in 2002. However, finances and risks fluctuate so $260 expense today isn't something I feel comfortable with.

I'm on the same page you are. What does it cost for me to start a ToV game on Foundry? It's about $260 to purchase the core book and all of the monster books I use. I want the ease of Roll20 assets, so +$?? for storage and +$?? for a hosting service. Also, can my players adapt to Foundry?
