That’ll help them in the midterms!

They are probably realizing gerrymandering is more likely to end up being a dummymander and backfire on them based on the average percentage dems are shifting in recent elections.

Georgia State House not US House.

The problem is they aren’t actually getting redder… only their representation is.

So no signal leaks?

I came here to say the exact same thing. The point is that they are not fair. They are retaliatory to other states making unfair maps. The messaging needs some adjustment though I’m not sure of an easy description that also sounds good.

What’s weird is that this is purely performative because it would need to pass the senate which it won’t. But it’s not like some popular thing. So he’s basically performing to one person who happens to occupy the White House…

Does this open NY up to redistricting in 2026 or likely just 2028?

I agree, which is why the ones loyal to the constitution will be fired. Or if they resign it gets us to the same place.

He’ll fire the ones who don’t obey.

I think that’s a good term but to just push back a little, fascism doesn’t allow “opposition” either so I’m not sure I agree that the term normalizes it. The existence of an opposition means fascism hasn’t fully taken hold.

Not that “opposition,” framing isn’t without its own problems but I think you get more legitimacy with opposition than the idea of freedom fighters.
September 24, 2025 at 2:39 AM
I think that’s a likely problem. Sure, people who are already engaged might respond well to “resistance,” framing but people think of fighters with fighting. People generally don’t want violence and may react poorly to that kind of messaging. Opposition feels like we can do this without violence.

Harris got 37% of the votes.

Performance is the only power dems have at the federal level, other than the filibuster… I don’t have a problem with it but if they do this AND cave on government shutdown, that would be very bad…

Utah’s court ruling says the plaintiff also gets to submit maps so if the legislature doesn’t, the plaintiff map goes forward not the legislature’s. The September ruling is to determine if the new map is legal.

The top image is an AI “enhanced” image, not the raw image taken by campus cameras. The actual photo is much less clear.

Raised Mormon but could be exmormon. Exmormons are very often left wing. I’d be cautious jumping to conclusions either way.
