To those who haven't read it - this is a surprisingly great book, and not just because it's a well-written fantasy tale - it's a little absurdist, placed in inconsistent time settings, having characters seemingly from different books all together. It's much much more than just unicorns and rainbows!

Maybe it was never actually about getting rid of the most immigrants. Maybe it was always just about getting to do violence on people they don't like.

The current cabinet's understanding of security is at the level of "if I use incognito/private mode, no one can know that I look at porn". Just because Signal is encrypted, doesn't mean people can't find out what you do.

In general, it would be great to have a term for "I'm gonna ask you for something which may seem like a drag, but it will only be _very_ temporary, or will turn out to cost you essentially nothing, and you'll get to feel like a mensch". Gah, Germans almost for sure have word for something like that.

It would grease the gears of highway traffic if there were a special turn signal for "i'm gonna get in in your lane, but only in order to keep going", as opposed to "i'm gonna get in your lane, and then you'll have to stare at the back of my car for an indefinite period"

Amazing to think that nothing / no one could ever actually see what's depicted in the video (at least in our understanding of the universe). You'd have to go _sooo_ many times the speed of light to move around in that way. It's just so massive 🤯
