I'm also going to keep thinking about her phrase "I no longer mistake endurance for belonging" for a long time to come.

Really enjoying the new issue of @theshorepoetry.bsky.social this morning, and this poem by Caitlin Scarano in particular:

"My organizing principle keeps slipping / off in the night, a fox silently piercing a series / of fencelines."

In a note to herself, Octavia E. Butler wrote, “Tell stories filled with facts. Make people touch and taste and know. Make people feel!“

Good writing advice for academics and researchers. All writing is a form of creative writing.

“It’s extremely important for me to keep the reality of film craft alive. I want real sets. I don’t want digital. I don’t want AI. I don’t want simulation. I want old fashioned craftsmanship. I want people painting, building, hammering, plastering. I go in and paint props myself.“

A black-and-white portrait of Diane Seuss. She has long dark hair with bangs, wears dark eyeliner, and looks directly at the camera with a serious expression. The image is framed by a salmon-pink border. A white graphic bordered in salmon pink featuring an excerpt from Diane Seuss’s poem "In every religion, a purifying." The excerpt reads:
“The rain came in multitudes, / in droves, like supplicants / to a holy place, almost // beautiful, as a shattered / windshield is beautiful, / especially when it rains.” At the bottom, text notes: Poetry / Blackbird v23n4, with a small blackbird silhouette.

Really, really interesting conversation about book reviews, the state of criticism today, etc—from a perspective that centers poetry & the renegade genres for discussing it. I really like this podcast! podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/i...

I mentioned this to friends recently as one of the few tools I use every semester without fail (for years!) & they didn’t know about it to my surprise so now I’m making sure to spread the word. I truly appreciate @wcaleb.org putting it online for everyone so long ago!

now in Blackpitts in Dublin, if the rain holds off they'll be there a while (you are not alone)
A black siding with a dozen brightly colored posters wheatpasted on it. The posters are printed with overlapping words in bright colors A corner of one of the posters next to small cards with typewritten language on them. The cards say, "it can be easy to walk through this shared world for getting that we are all here together. Even forgetting that we are here with all the plants, animals, landforms, ideas, books, music, pictures, etc. All of human imagining is here with us. You are not alone." and "these posters were made by collecting words from our ordinary surroundings (groups of people did that). Then we got to stencils in paper and we used those two screen print the words one on top of another. Some words came from groups in Dublin. Others came from groups in the US. The posters travelled. Our language is shared. Our world is shared, too."
