I don't think he's going to make the cut. At least half a dozen Republicans are saying they will not confirm him for the job.

Well, he was also told point blank that the GOP would not have the votes to save him in an impeachment trial. Otherwise I think he might have dug in, but who's to say.

Out of one side of their mouths, they are whining about a weaponized DOJ and then out of the other side they are talking about weaponizing the DOJ to go after anyone who ever hurt Trump's feelings.

My folks both voted for Nixon and Watergate changed their view of politics forever. It's hard to overstate its impact on Americans in the 70s and how much it reframed things for a huge number of people. Now we are all far too jaded about that kind of thing.

I have made a study out of Nixon and Watergate. As much of a moral slob as Nixon was, he was also a scholar and a historian and probably one of the most intelligent men to ever serve as POTUS. But as far as corruption and malfeasance, he's not even in the same league with Trump.

And when he goes, that is going to knock many of the pieces off the game board. Vance is not likeable, not charismatic, not capable of captivating people like Trump has, but he's also far more intelligent. The jockeying for position and slitting of throats will start among MAGA then.

I do think that there will be a way out on the back end of this thing, but everybody needs to strap in because it's going to be a very rough ride until then. One wild card that nobody can predict and few are talking about is that Trump is not likely to live through his entire four-year term 1/2
