There probably were more sides to that story too but for me as a kid in The Netherlands it was Hogan, Andre the Giant, Superfly, Randy Savage, Rowdy Rod etc that started it all. We never knew about what happened before that.

There were two versions of Hulk Hogan. The wresting actor (or acting wrestler) who has literally created the popularity of WWE (or (WWF in the early days is one of them and that’s the one I’ll remember, not the crazy yelling MAGA act he became.
