Celebrating the Birds of late April of 2025
I created this collage of birds, with their names, I’d seen lately. The world outside is waiting for you to explore. This is a resource worth protecting and preserving.

1 of my favorite photos & a quote from 1 of my favorite authors. This past winter there were days when #MountainBluebirds gathered by the partially frozen river to drink. I happened to capture a photo of this #MountainBluebird on rocks beside the #SantaFeRiver. #Bluebird #HenryDavidThoreau

It’s America in Mourning instead of Morning in America so the fact that this was the first butterfly I saw this year seems sadly appropriate.

Mountain Bluebirds seen Tuesday by the Santa Fe River. Water is a precious resource for us & for birds & other wildlife. I fervently hope that we can find a way to have a semi-permanent water source. One idea is creating a watering hole like they do in Africa.

Curve-billed Thrasher under dried Sacred Datura
Cornell Lab of Ornithology: “Curve-billed Thrashers… forage on the ground, using the bill to sweep back and forth through leaf litter and soil. They toss large pieces of vegetation…to one side to uncover insect prey.”
