My first introduction to the wonderful Paul Durcan, who passed today.

Who else but George Ivan Morrison could have brought this to music.

“I am down on my knees
At those wireless knobs
Telefunken, Telefunken
And I'm searching for
Luxembourg..”

My Dad won 4 Harty Cup medals with the Mon. One (or 2) were melted down for tabernacle in St Francis.

We have 2; 1942-43; 43-44.

My dad always called to school insisting the translation of my name Jeremiah is Diarmuid.

Great to see D Ó Murcada (both our names) on these medals.

My beautiful granny Nora lived in my family home. She was born in 1898; saw war of independence, burning of Patrick’s Street, funeral of Michael Collins. She was widowed in her 40’s and lived to 93.

She loved life, family, stories & cooking.

My music tastes are so last century. Not allowed play Jazz at home. 🤦‍♂️

Started the year in a 1920’s Jazz Saxophone Bebop phase (Bird and Dizzy);

Moved on to to a Mellow Rock Folkie Singer-Songwriter season (Tom & Van)

Finished off with some Speakeasy Harlem Renaissance Jazz (Miles and John)

First post on #Bluesky. Took time to think about what to post.

Thinking of plight of #Greens in #GE24. Thinking who will defend climate. Thinking of cap on flights from Dublin

A 15 minute interview on Claire Byrne on climate neutral aviation and mathematical net zero.
