Jerwood Foundation has awarded MK Gallery a total grant of £20,000 to fund the catalogue accompanying the first major survey exhibition of British painter Euan Uglow’s work in over 20 years.

We're delighted to announce Jerwood Collection has acquired a 1957 drawing by Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975), Project (winged figure – brass). This expressive work joins Hepworth’s earlier piece Study for Lisa (Hands to Face), 1949 already in the Collection. Learn more👇

Born on this day in 1908 was English painter Carel Victor Morlais Weight.

Weight often populated his work with ghostly presences and in 'I Cheer a Dead Man’s Sweetheart' featured here, the solitary man on the right appears as a ghost, watching the couple on the left, walking hand in hand.

Born on this day in Bristol in 1944 was painter and art teacher Mary Fedden, who studied at the @sladeschoolucl.bsky.social, did stage design for @sadlerswells.bsky.social before becoming a notable painter of murals.

It's #LeftHandersDay - and the first left-handed artist from Jerwood Collection that came to mind for us was Lucian Freud.

He is considered one of the most important figurative painters of the past century, and painted with his left hand while holding his palette in his right.
