It wasn't my PC but I have fond memories of helping a friend build their first Slackware box in ?1994 or so from 3 1/2" floppy drives, maybe about 21 of them? The stack of floppies was very tall and we got pizza while we waited because it took forever … I installed mine a few years later I think

In the end she did specific tutoring and it wasn't "get better at English" it was "here's how to get a better score in this type of test questions"…

I think language tests are often tests of test-taking ability rather than the actual language. I had a friend who took the IELTS something like 13 times before she got a score that qualified her to attend university which was bananas. I lived with her - she absolutely had enough English for that

I started learning Japanese this year at 50. I fully plan to join a singing group as soon as I get to that level of health, which looks like it might not be super far away.
One of the joys of getting older is that I am WAY better at being bad at things without my perfectionism getting in the way💚
