Good luck! You might know this already, but strikes also instantly recharge when you activate an upgrade and when you lose a shield. Handy in some chaotic situations.

Oh, I forgot. The Movement deck is worth considering for the ranger card, which increases projectile range.

I see the other four deck slots as being more flexible depending on playstyle and preference, but I did take Gambler for rares (while avoiding the spam curse).

Decks: Exotic, Collector, Manipulator, and Protector are all great. Exotic cards, point-blank (pairs well with Defier's short range), megablast, etc. are really handy in the later worlds, glimmer grab helps to ramp up upgrades faster, and many of those decks have shield cards too.

For me, getting comfortable with using strikes both offensively and defensively helped. Also, if you didn't know, single strikes recharge faster than triple (useful for bosses). I focused on strike upgrades after the second boss - missiles and speed early on.

Finally got it tonight - after 3.5 hours of grinding!

I haven't! Almost there (I've reached the final boss), but I've figured out how to keep the score multiplier at max. The Defier is definitely the hardest out of the three ships.
