While researching this, I actually just found out that Gromit Unleashed will be happening again in 2025!

I hope that I can travel home to visit friends and have the opportunity to see this again - it was such an amazing experience and was so special to share with my family.

One of my personal favorite Gromit's on display back in 2013 was this Gromit based off of King Tut.

This Gromit was placed on display in the Bristol History Museum, which holds a special place in my heart as I went there a lot growing up.

Who are artists you have seen works by, in reproduction, or online?

I mentioned this a while ago, but I was born in Bristol, England. In Bristol, many of Banksy's work is present throughout town. Bristol is huge in the street art scene, so I've always loved being able to witness these works irl.

How do I know if I've made a "good" tweet?

I'm not too sure honestly, this is something that I have struggled with. I've been worried that my tweets haven't been "deep" enough. But I think as long as I'm genuine and true to myself, then I can't go wrong in tweeting. Wish me luck lol!

My favorite doodle/drawing from the sketchbook was these little states taking a stroll and holding hands!

So fun!

Here is one aspect that stood out to me in particular. I loved the immersiveness of having the desk, chalk board, and lockers present. And it was so nice to have the opportunity to look through someone else's sketchbook and see how their artistic works and style develops.

One of my favorite sections at the MCA Denver was the section dedicated to students and young artists. It so important to have a space for these younger artists and to encourage them to keep creating and developing their skills.

Here is my favorite section from the Have a Seat exhibition at the DAM.

Super fun and exciting with the use of all the different colors and textures.

Why do cultural institutions have gift shops?

I believe that they have gifts shops to make money for maintenance for the institution. However, they also provide a nice experience for guests and can be a nice way for guests to remember their experiences and time at the institutions by.

What is a Gift Shop?

A gift shop is a store that's often at the end of a gallery or exhibit to sell items or works related to the museum or related exhibit.

What does it mean that you have to "go to art" rather than that it comes to you?

I believe that this means that in order to do art and to get better, you have to just start and "give it a go". Sometimes, starting can be the hardest part of a new hobby or task, so "giving a go" can be super helpful.

How do you know if you feel like you belong to a place and it belongs to you?

For me, I think I know depending on how at peace I feel and how my mind and body are feeling. I haven't really had the feeling of belonging to a place before until very recently.

Do you know what it means to feel ‘of a place’?

I'm not entirely sure, but I do know that personally, I'll feel out of place when my gut feeling kicks in. I guess it's mainly just a gut feeling for me. I'll feel most at peace when I'm with my friends that I really feel comfortable with.

When have you felt most ‘of a place’?

Funnily enough, I probably felt most out of place when I studied abroad in Japan. I was aware of the culture shock before going and did the best to prepare for that, but I would say that I didn't fully feel "at home" until the 4th or 5th month of living there.

Another aspect of Nghe's installation that stood out to me was these Sanrio and Sumikko Gurahsi plushes. They are from a Japanese brand and play a heavy influence in Japan's kawaii culture.

Here is another example of kawaii culture in Japan. This version of kawaii culture may align more closely with, Yamikawaii, roughly meaning "dark and sickly cute". These styles are typically a but more edgier but still cute in a sense - like what is seen on these t-shirts from Nghe's installation.

"Keo: Saccharine Affliction"
Vy Nghe, 2024

This instillation stood out to me in particular. Not only due to the set-up and the cute style, but it reminded me a lot of "kawaii culture" seen in Japan.

Here is another view of the camera!

This angle displays the films that were playing throughout the show. These films expressed the creativity of Syd
Lee and her friends and displayed their styles in directing and editing - such a cool concept!

"Picking Scabs"
Syd Lee, 2023-2024

This piece dives into the pains and heartbreaks caused by the pressures of beauty standards placed within society and brings awareness to the impacts of these standards on women in particular.

"Mother: Giver, Crafter, Documenter"
Syd Lee, 2024

I used to love scrapbooking, so this piece definitely stood out to me! I love the mix of mediums and materials - it felt very true to the art of scrapbooking and I loved how Lee dedicated this piece to her mother.
