#Pinguicula gigantea snagging the last of the summer gnats before their winter diet of fish food 😅
A small, bright green, broad-leafed rosette plant grows in a pot full of live sphagnum. Another pot with two smaller specimens is out of focus in the background. The leaves appear slightly fuzzy. A closer view of a small Pinguicula plant with dead fungus gnats stuck to the topside of the leaves. The leaves appear slightly fuzzy and moist. A detailed close-up of a pinguicula leaf, showing a field of trichomes tipped with a sticky secretion, into which the fungus gnats are stuck.

Without zoom - can you see him? It's not usually so easy, and there are a LOT of pale rocks.

Churchill, Manitoba is touted as the polar bear capital of the world - it was incredible to see first-hand the realities of life/work where encounters with large predators were commonplace.

I can't say I've ever needed a TA to guard me with a shotgun during fieldwork before..
