Also, the median subscriber to Matt's Substack is actually far more liberal than the median Free Press subscriber (as a subscriber mainly to argue in the comments and remind people there of the normie Dem position on things).

Look, I don't want to say I think she has a job w/ The Free Press because Bari Weiss is attracted to her but....

The inherent 'fuck you' in American DNA might work out for the good guys.

It's fine to dislike or even hate him, but hate him for actual reasons to hate him.
January 25, 2026 at 5:51 AM
I unfortunately think many Republican voters were probably anti-PEPFAR in 2005 if told about it, but Dubya and many other Republican leaders of the time were elitist Ivy League Republicans. But yeah, he has been getting worse.
January 25, 2026 at 5:50 AM
Like I said, his Substack subscribers and the subreddit have basically mostly all gone "the libs were wrong about transgender stuff so it turns out they were wrong about everything" but for all his many many many faults, he actually believe his BS about science so it hasn't infected his other views.
January 25, 2026 at 5:48 AM
Wayne Burkett or whatever his name is.
January 25, 2026 at 5:35 AM
Lyman's terrible but he's basically what every Republican was like in 2005.
January 25, 2026 at 5:35 AM
Singal is basically still a normie Dem on everything except transgender stuff (which he is horribly wrong on) which pisses off his actual Substack subscribers who are upset he's still a soyboy lib.
January 25, 2026 at 5:34 AM
Like, to be blunt, I could have an argument with Stephen Miller. Kat Rosenfield would just find a way to act like this isn't a big deal and the libs are overreacting again.
January 25, 2026 at 5:12 AM
I actually hate the above it all anti-anti-Trump GenX types more than the pure MAGA's. At least the MAGS and white nationalists and the rest have actual wants - the irony is the 40/50 something centrist to center-right type is the true 'can't we just go back to brunch' type of person not Wine Moms
January 25, 2026 at 5:11 AM
This has basically been the reaction of evil SOB's like Wayne over on Twitter - "wait why do the white libs care about the dirty Somalis in their city."
January 25, 2026 at 4:59 AM
You'd still have left over Dixiecrats winning elections in Alabama with like 35% of the black vote because they're still the most left-leaning on economics.
January 24, 2026 at 8:57 PM
Do you know of any other political movements that explicitly were anti-country x ended up in charge of country x? Like, even the Bolsheviks never openly said they were anti-Russian.
January 22, 2026 at 8:51 PM
People don't get America would probably be a better place if politicians could be more easily paid off. Oil & gas spends millions to elect people who already believe climate change is a scam, not to get people to hide their real views. Joe Manchin just thought poor people would waste the CTC.
January 22, 2026 at 8:46 PM
They get why a suburban woman may vote for Dems because of abortion even if they're wary of welfare but don't get why a rural woman may vote for Republican's because of abortion even if they're OK w/ Medicare for All.
January 22, 2026 at 8:42 PM
A segment of leftists basically don't believe in legitimate social conservatives who care more about social conservative policies than left-leaning economic policy.
January 22, 2026 at 8:42 PM
I don't want to say 'opsec' when talked about online is 100% an excuse not to do something but....like for all the issues, this isn't a civil war, yet. Plus, the laptop you're posting about opsec on is more likely to give you up than how somebody else posts a video.
January 21, 2026 at 11:53 PM
Sure, Republicans would just say, "asylum isn't in the Constitution, it's in international law and America shouldn't be forced to follow international law to let everybody who asks nicely in" and people would unfortunately agree with them. Asylum for most refugees polls terribly (and that's bad)
January 16, 2026 at 7:17 PM
She's too busy having a sad of Mamdani truly being a left-YIMBY.
January 15, 2026 at 1:26 AM
It is funny Bill basically brushed off the actual argument from his own publication.
January 14, 2026 at 9:11 PM
The Dem base isn't the GOP base - they'll take somebody they disagree with over a random guy they agree with more. Yes, Zohran did it but Zohran was a great charismatic campaigner who basically batted 1.000. There's 10 different places the majority of candidates stumble and Cuomo is mayor.
January 14, 2026 at 9:08 PM
Unfortunately, I think it's totally possible for ICE to be broadly unpopular among Democrats, Democratic politicians to be against their base, and lose zero primaries due to a lack of strong primary challengers.
January 14, 2026 at 9:07 PM
I mean, unfortunately, those are probably two would be among his most popular takes among 'normies'.
