Posts about the history of Kuala Lumpur, British Malaya and the Straits Settlements.
Market Street Bridge photographed sometime in the 1880s. I suspect it's 1884, which would mean that this is the reconstructed Market Street Bridge after KL's devastating floods in 1881.

Another lost building from KL's history - this time the Railway Clerk's Quarters in Kampong Attap. Photographed in 1908.

Kuala Lumpur's first brick buildings. Constructed by Yap Ah Loy in 1881. The exact site has been forgotten, but they were like at Medan Pasar or on Jalan Petaling.

The same site photographed in 1884 from a different angle. The padang is on the left. The row of buildings on the right is where the Sultan Abdul Samad building was constructed.

The Sultan Abdul Samad building photographed across the padang in 1906. One of my favourite shots of early KL.
