“As a community, we’ve been put through a mental and physical wringer. But we carry on fighting because it’s our lifeline at stake.”

After the chaos of last night’s welfare vote, most of the media spoke to MPs. I wanted to speak to disabled people:

This is Labour’s poll tax. Its tuition fees. It is - as Iraq was for Blair - the moral stain that will mark Starmer’s government and the party for years to come. Severely disabled people are going to be starved, isolated and degraded. No Labour MP who backs this will be forgiven.

If they persist in making it so you can’t leave a WhatsApp group unannounced, then you should have to consent to being put in one in the first place. I will die on this hill.

If you want a clear illustration of the Government’s disregard for really engaging with disabled people, they have produced NO accessible versions of their plans today.

Has anyone told Keir Starmer et al that when you’re the party in power you (supposedly) act for everyone in the country? I’m sick of hearing about what they’re doing for “working people” like the rest of us don’t count.

It is more than possible to raise the meagre UC rate for healthy jobseekers without lowering the rate for disabled and sick people. There’s no either or here. Whether it’s Labour or the Tories, it only becomes strivers v skivers when it is a convenient narrative for politicians.

I'm absolutely aghast to see this sinister piece in the Guardian—the author says diagnoses of Long Covid, autism and ADHD are "robbing people of a recovery identity"

“Choose a better partner if you’re overwhelmed!” Is hall of fame bullshit. Listen, I am only going to say this once. You can have an awesome partner and still experience working and parenting differently as a woman. Write this down - 🧵

Usually I treat myself to trip to the nail salon for Christmas; this year, I’ve booked an osteopath appointment. In case you wondered how things are going.

Dads: Turn that bloody light off! It’s like Blackpool Illuminations in here. Do you think I’m made of money?

Dads at Christmas: I don’t think 96 strings of lights on the outside of the house is enough, love. Just popping to B&Q for another 47 and a 12ft illuminated reindeer.

I find it hard to imagine feeling anything other than depressed by this. Who is this for, exactly?
Copy-pasted bros with copy-pasted beards make copy-pasted books. Tell me again how some minority academic plagarised something somewhere, mumble-mumble-beardy-mumble.

'Disruptor', lol. Wait till you find out how much authors make, my beardy dudes

Just incredibly bleak that when a Labour government is finally in power, disabled people still have to wake up to front pages calling them a blight on society.
