(Although presumably the senior figures here from Barclays, BA, EY etc don’t need to have their homework marked by the PM)

Starmers hoping to announce a significant number of new jobs created in the UK (though visas for talented workers are a key ask of business)

He told the delegation this morning he wanted to hear an example each of a deal landed on the trip on the flight back

Hello from Mumbai where Keir Starmer is meeting India’s prime minister Modi tomorrow with a huge business and culture delegation.

This is the road from the airport - imagine around 1000 of each of these signs along the entire motorway into town

Today at Tory party conference there is a Rally for Liberty featuring many shadow ministers railing against assaults on civil liberties including the tobacco and vapes bill and the police crime and sentencing bill which curtailed protest rights
jessicaelgot.bsky.social
Not sure what is the bigger distress signal - ConHome failing to identify the shadow chancellor or the fact that Steve Bray hasn’t even bothered to come to Tory conference to shout at them
georgeeaton.bsky.social
This isn’t a picture of Mel Stride and the shadow chancellor being misidentified on ConHome feels quite indicative of where the Tories are at.

Not sure I would have gone with headline - unless I actually wanted people to laugh out loud....

The scoping exercise by HMRC is said to be focused on tax residency and the business affairs of George Cottrell, whom Farage has described as “like a son to me”.

Known as “Posh George”, Cottrell leads an expensive lifestyle and regularly using a £4m house in one of the wealthiest areas of London

not sure this is as logical as you think it is
In
forthcoming book
called
Prosperity Through Growth, Johnson admitted that when Russia's invasion of Ukraine pushed up gas prices,
it
became clear that the UK's net-zero strategy had to change, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Not to make light of the editorial failure, but look how far Twitter lies now permeate in to normal discourse. We think we know about the racism but the utter contempt for truth since Musk bought the platform is deliberate & very dangerous. You can’t foment racism with fact checkers in the building.

Oh my god.

Have I Got News For You just referred to this completely false claim as a fact!!

Feels like this is one of those things that could have quite serious repercussions - how can this have slipped through?

Here’s the clip (which I will once again note for out-of-context reposts, is a total bullshit conspiracy/fake news).

It’s a perfect script, the prime minister under pressure pulls off a conference speech to silence his critics, his rival slinks away chastened.

But is it true? Not really.

Our conference read, on Burnham the Cassandra

I didn’t understand this post but now I realise that Matt thinks this is because of environmentalism (lol)

It’s not, it’s a purely populist and tokenistic move by Labour because fracking is hugely unpopular and shale gas extraction in the UK is basically pointless.

UK shale has an annoying tendency to to be under Lancashire, where people live, rather than North Dakota, where they don't.

Ed Davey decides now is the right time for a bit of man-management of his chuntering backbenches
peterwalker99.bsky.social
Away from Labour, Ed Davey has (slightly) reshuffled his from bench. The well thought-of Lisa Smart goes from home affairs to a cross-policy Cabinet Office role; another rising star, Max Wilkinson, replaces her; Jess Brown-Fuller (yet another rising star) takes over at justice.

In his speech on Wednesday, Miliband will say the government is accelerating plans for the green transition- promising 400,000 new jobs by 2030.

He is to resurrect the term “Green New Deal” to convey how Labour will tackle both climate change and inequality

Was going to offer to DM but I see the NS has actually published it!
jessicaelgot.bsky.social
I haven't written a story about it though, have I?
jessicaelgot.bsky.social
Yes you're right, we're not actually reporting the conference at all this year. A couple of posts on social media is all we've decided to do.
