Picture Book of the Day: Just Right by Torrey Maldonado, illustrated by Teresa Martinez. This is an extraordinary PB that I was lucky enough to sneak-preview at #scbwiny26. It’s bold and emotional and beautiful. (Had to resist using “just right” there!)

Picture Book of the Day: The Sleeper Train by Mick Jackson, illustrated by Baljinder Kaur. This book held the attention of myself and my 3yo in equal parts (a must for a good PB!). We travel through beautiful memories like glimpses out a train window. Lyrical text, gorgeous illustrations.

Picture Book of the Day: This is one we returned to the library today - “Thank You Neighbor!” by Ruth Chan. A charmingly simple slice of life that has no plot per se and yet held up to reading after reading. Timeless and feel-good (and I loved the “Last Stop on Market Street” Easter egg)!

#12x12PB #kidlit

One of my favorite parts of #scbwiny26 was the Portfolio Showcase where illustrators shared their gorgeous work. I loved seeing it all, but my fave was the little dummy book by @adriakarlsson.bsky.social - hope to see it in print someday!

Here I am getting over my social media aversion (distaste? fear?) thanks to several speakers at #scbwiny26 who reframed as an opportunity to create community. I’m feeling inspired and grateful to #MegMedina and all the other amazing faculty at the conference!
