Some quibbles (I'd push upper new england down more into western mass) but at least for where I lived it lines up. I knew I wasn't crazy as a kid for thinking Oklahoma City felt southern!

This is the most accurate depiction of the Midwest to date. Wichita has always felt like the last Midwest city while also being the first plains city.

Yeah same, I lived in greater Los Angeles from birth until age 9, Oklahoma City until age 12, Denver for like half a year, Houston until 18, moved to Boston for college and stayed (am in my 30s now). I usually just say the whole thing and make the other person decide where I'm from lmao

I peeped my old program's required courses; they replaced "statistical methods for nlp" and information extraction with "advanced ml methods for nlp" parts 1 and 2, still holding onto annotation and the two fundamentals courses (which basically go through jurafsky and martin)

As an NLP person in industry, I find I still use older techniques bc production environments can be resource limited. I'm not sure how academic nlp/comp ling people are coping though, get really into data I guess

I used to work at a health tech company that does this sort of thing, the idea is that the AI is not making the decision, it's surfacing something to a doctor to go in and take a second look. Hopefully that's what's going on here

I wasn't diagnosed until my mid 20s, and I had to seek out a neuropsychologist myself for evaluation. verbal nonwhite girls weren't exactly being diagnosed when I was a kid!

I think it's regional (and of course racial/ethnic) in the US, no one I know in new england wears shoes indoors for presumably the same reasons Canadians don't. When I lived in texas there was a definite split between the Anglo and non Anglo kids
