To say democracy essentially doesn’t work because people are too busy, tired, uneducated to empower themselves. If that’s really the case then the USA / western world has bigger issues than Trump.
Happy to disagree - it’s a point of view after all and we’re all entitled to those. 🙂

Yes I agree the ‘architects’ as you describe it are to blame too - but to not also lay responsibility at the door of each person who has a vote is to basically to undermine democracy. To enfeeble people.

Everyone who puts cross to paper has personal responsibility to apply critical thinking.
The internet isn’t banned in the US, other sources are available - it’s not (yet) Russia or 1930s Germany.
I’m similarly critical of people in the UK who suck up everything the populist press tells them.

Reading the US security strategy makes it explicit which ‘side’ the US is on.
Europe (in which I include the UK) needs to wake up, start becoming militarily self-sufficient and stop buying US weapons systems.

You can’t really absolve the US population of responsibility - 75m people of the US voted for Trump and a further (almost) 90m did not vote at all. They were adequately warned and informed.

Watched it yesterday - I love GDT films generally but this was something else. Beautiful art direction, clever and nuanced acting, an entrancing couple of hours.

To explain - Prison and gaol / jail are all the same in the UK. We have different security levels and categories but the meaning is the same.
