Arunima Sinha lost her leg in 2011.

In 2013, she became the first female amputee to summit Mt. Everest & #OTD in 2019, she summited Mt. Vinson in Antarctica & became the first/only amputee to complete the Seven Summits--climbing the highest peak on each of the 7 continents. 😮 #wow #inspirational

It's Christmas Eve and painting in the garden in the summer sunshine seems a long way off so here's a reminder.
Happy Christmas everyone!

One of many past watercolour compositions featuring flowers and plants from my garden. There will be new paintings when things start growing. I don't know what happened to the Chinese Lanterns (Physalis). They don't seem to come up now (must try again).

A couple of mixed flower watercolours from five years ago. I rather like them because they haven't been over-finished: just studies without any thought of exhibiting them. There's a lot of these in sketch pads and folders from over the years.

Quite a large oil on canvas showing the view across the river Cam from the Jesus Green side. I think this big tree is completely gone now. I might still have this one in the attic with other old paintings but put off sorting them out. The image is scanned from a photo.

Here's another watercolour from a sketching visit back to Winchester where I spent a year at the art school in the '60s. I had a particularly productive stay in the late '90s and this is favourite from then. It was bought by a friend and I'm sure she's looking after it.

Another of my watercolour drawings of Winchester from 1997 (still in my possession). I sat by some railings with my back to the cathedral and completed this on the spot even though light rain came on (I had an umbrella).

A street scene from the '90s (see Alt txt for more info). This detailed watercolour drawing of mine from >30 yrs ago of King's Parade, #Cambridge was completed on the spot in about 3 hours. I was sitting on a metal box that controlled the rising bollards. Sold ages ago. #watercolour #enpleinair

Someone asked if I could post some more recent work. I have lately been browsing through older paintings but I'll see if I can choose a few more recent ones. 2021 isn't too long ago I suppose. This one sold at a Cambridge drawing soc. exhibition (info in alt txt).

A recent oil on canvas painted in my garden size 61cmX86cm "Two women at a garden table". It was one of my entries to the Cambridge Drawing Society 2024. Needs to be a bit more subtle in its tone I think looking back on it.

This oil on canvas showing the garden at the front of the studio was finished in 2024 and hung in the autumn exhibition of the Cambridge Drawing Society where it found a buyer. I called it "The Stepladder" (size 30" X 34").
