TFW you have 48 hours to write a 500 word rhyming story but you can’t remember which form of sonnet you prefer lol

TFW you finally find the answer to “are you a hoodie bisexual or a denim jacket bisexual” 😂😂😂

Read this book.

I didn’t start tabbing until pg 80, so I have to go back and find all the things that made me sit and stare at the wall. It’s his last book, very much of its time but timeless in so many unfortunate ways.

TFW you think you’re picking up a cute little timey wimey book and Ashley Poston destroys you (it’s fine, I’m fine).

I pick from my own TBR for PCPL’s Rainbow Reads Book Club, so I had to open our meeting today with an apology for the MASSIVE CLIFFHANGER WHOOPS!

I had a great time reading about sisters in a Jamaica-inspired world with magical powers and trauma—what happens to the Chosen One after the war is over?

Me on a normal work day: ah shit it’s 9:05 I should have left for work an hour ago, guess I should get out of bed

I did No Ordinary Love on Audio which was very well narrated, but I couldn’t NOT share this gorgeous Cover Snob SE

I’m behind on book posts. I read some bangers this month!

I broke out The Broposal while I was listening to Futbolista; the two always go together in my mind in part because I saw Sonora and Jonny in conversation and it was magical. Also because they share Vibes and gave me both giggles and feels

My (romance) reading slump has been broken! Of course it would be this book that did it; Rachel just has a way of telling a story that will grip you and not let you go until you’re wistfully sighing at the incredibly satisfactory ending.

Welp.

Between this and the Baldwin interviews, Wrath Month has begun early.

Whether you don’t know a thing about Miss Major or know everything about her, this is a book worth picking up. Laugh, rage, learn. Then do something about it.

Happy Juneteenth, y’all! I hope you’re giving a Black person or business money today 😉 and if you want to give me a real Birthday Treat, grab one of these from a Black Owned Bookstore (and if you don’t have one nearby, Bookshop.org has a great list you can support through them or online)

Four interviews, a couple hours.

Damn.

While the basics were familiar (and some advice out of date), this was still an amazing read! Mosley offers up worthwhile, noteworthy wisdom! Even if you’ve written a book (or several) you’ll be inspired by it.

Still not writing every day, though 🤣

Happy bookaversary to @generouspress and this gorgeous collection of short stories, including my own! Elaina and Amber made me believe maybe I CAN actually do this fiction thing, so thank you for believing in my work and including my girls alongside such other amazing stories.

Okay, so Goodreads doesn’t understand and just skips that word or something. It seems to be common with colons—left is AMZ, right is goodreads.

This book is an absolute MASTERCLASS.

Last year, I had the pleasure of sharing a two hour ride from St. Louis to Columbia with Matt Bell, on the way to the Unbound Book Festival. I had heard of REFUSE TO BE DONE, but hadn’t picked it up yet, so I grabbed a copy from Skylark Books.

While I appreciate your response, and am well aware how hard it is to get into F1 if you don’t have generational wealth, I am speaking specifically about publishing, which has pushed an influx of romance novels featuring formula one drivers
April 16, 2025 at 6:21 PM
I don't have the capacity to write something about this, but with THIS MAN as the face of Formula One for damn near 20 years, why is it that traditional publishing, with its influx of F1 roms, has nary a Black man in sight? Even Brad Pitt has a Black second lead. Where are my Black F1 heroes?

I didn’t see a single play of the KDot opening act, because I was buried in this book. A great MMFM concept, vaguely inspired by Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Shon, you got me forever.

Grabbed a couple of potentials and plopped them on my reading chair while I did other stuff for a couple of hours, and JUST NOW realized they’re both rocking the same color scheme 🤣 guess it was meant to be!

It’s my bookaversary! Happy three years to BLACK LOVE MATTERS, the book of my heart! I didn’t let the pandemic, cancer, or corralling 13 authors in ten states and two countries hold me down, and we got something magical in return!

What are you reading this first day of Black History Month?
