What makes me sad about the oasis podcast was the irresponsible quality of the press. Tabloids, result, yob, fights and wanting this stuff in the media. It was the age of very lazy laddish journalism. The nirvana edition was sad and beautiful.

What helps me in my day job and my poetry world these days is less is more. Im usually a maximalist- wanting more of everything- particularly books!! But after getting ill last year - my friend Ingrid was such a wise friend. She has written a book! Its a wise one… i hope it helps you.

📚 It's August, which means the #SealeyChallenge is now underway! To help you on your journey to read a book every day this month, The Poetry Society has gotten in touch with poets we've recently worked with for some recommendations.

Today's recommendation comes from Joladé Olusanya, whose poetry --
Joladé Olusanya recommends 'Sand and Foam' by Kahlil Gibran. He says of the book: "A master of the one-liners. Gibran is incredible at summarising life in simple lines. You'll put this book down often -- not because you're bored, but because you can't believe this talent existed at all."

Another poem marking #ShakepeareDay with a good measure of David Bowie in the mix.
Here's 'Cracked Actor' from Notes from a Shipwreck by @jessmookherjee.bsky.social, where seafaring lore and shanties interweave with wreckage and survival:
