You can only dehumanize people so much before they come to see it is you who lacks any humanity. Don't expect kindness or even civility from those you've treated as subhuman.

Been binging Being Human. Had to pause, take a screenshot, make the pic & send it to the group chat. And this is why it takes me three hours to watch an episode.

Fascists, who deep down know they're pathetic and ridiculous, cannot handle mockery. If there's one thing Portland does well (other than dumplings in chili oil), it's irreverent mockery of everything.

I do love how this stuff prompts our discussions. I get to educate him about feminism, he educates me about things that affect younger people & current discourse in his circles.

IDK, I never participated in them.

I'm now reluctant to show my nephew anything from when I was a kid because I'll cringe at something that aged poorly & my nephew will call it out. Which makes me proud of the man he's become but awkward about looking back.

Yeah, she'll lose weight & then he'll neg her about her boobs or ass getting smaller. Or dressing too something.

"He is not a dirty person"

He shit on your bed.

Sadly a lot of men play fictional characters as friends too. He may have a controlling girlfriend or he may no longer care about proximity to potential sex anymore.

I once had a very close friend I adored. Randomly he ghosted. I was heartbroken & tried to understand what I did. Learned he had a girlfriend & he said she wasn't comfortable with how close we were. Then one night she confronted me in a bathroom wanting to know why I didn't like her & ghosted her bf

That isn't a father, that's a tourist. A fun uncle. And too many men are this way then pretend they're equal parents. If she leaves, he'll want equal custody to dodge child support. If she dies, he'll quickly find a replacement. He's worse than useless, he's dead weight.

I hope their partners hear this so they know these men believe they're justified in murdering them if they get sad. Misogyny isn't just hating women, often it includes a willingness to do violence because women aren't people to them. Especially their partners.

I'm sorry. That's so shitty that on top of having to navigate your physical struggles, you also had to advocate for your safety. It should be understood that women are vulnerable to male violence & many will seek to mitigate that risk as much as possible. And the vast majority have trauma.

So very tired of people who choose to be parents but want the world to revolve around protecting them from having to parent. You can't teach children about respect & consent unless you're talking to them about acceptable & unacceptable behavior.

"I'm doing this for myself. Not for him."

Are you though if you're constantly being nagged by the person you want to love you?

Another man who pursued a woman just to hate her & neg her to be someone else.

But when women say they prefer women as their healthcare providers they're told they're being irrational & "sexist."

Even their joy is often violent. They have to scream & throw things to express happiness. Even when their teams win they still riot.

One of the biggest hurdles in domestic violence is that men's aggressive behavior is normalized but is not "normal" or healthy. Women will experience this with most men & be told this is just how men express themselves. Theyre loud, "masculine," dominant. So we accept it at the expense of our nerves

We should instead be telling them to leave. Leave the first time he raises his voice, throws the remote, punches a wall. It will not only escalate but even those behaviors alone are enough to terrorize & keep you anxious. We don't have to live like that. They do it on purpose.

Then women are pathologized as neurotic because men dysregulate us with their normalized domestic violence - behavior that would not be accepted by employers & around clients. We tell women they're being too sensitive to shame them out of boundaries so men can discard civilized behavior around them.

While conservatives performatively rage about alleged Dem judges being too soft on criminals who then kill women, they cheer Trump protecting violent criminals. No one has been softer on violent, abusive, & predatory men than Trump.
jesspected.bsky.social
The GOP is the actual pro-crime party, especially if that crime is against women & children. Just like their leader loves to perpetrate.

Serial offenders that Trump made sure weren't held accountable to protect the public from their unrepentant perpetual violence.
