Still life painter. Interested in dogs, Dartmoor, mountain walking, archaeology, human evolution and small things of the natural world. Left wing tendencies tempered by reading the Economist
Sadly, my dog has colitis at the moment, so she is probably ‘Expeller of evil’. Especially at 2am.

‘Misled’. Pronounced it to rhyme with ‘whistled’ until I was about 15 🤦‍♀️

Hi Ben, when we were staying at Mar Lodge a couple of weeks ago we chickened out of doing Beinn a’Bhuird because we assumed we’d have to cross the Quoich in spate. What’s the crossing normally like?
(Did Derry Cairngorm instead, so no worries!)

We were there on Friday and it was bitter! Great views before the cloud came in at the cairns level. Looked spectacular when we left Mar Lodge this morning 🥲

Gorgeous as ever, small and perfectly formed! Ideal for a couple of Dartmoor girls who’ve never lived in a city before. Amazing how many of our year have kids there

It was fantastic to paint. Interesting though, in the painting you can see the rim around the mirror which I’m pretty certain was original, as well as the handle that was added by the Verulaneum restoration. Rim no longer visible on BM photo. Removed? Crumbled away? Not on my watch 😬🤷‍♀️

Again, I had the pleasure of painting it for the original landowner back in 2008. Sorry, can’t find the digital photo of actual painting so book will have to do

I painted it! Along with the rest of the Chettle Hoard. Assemblage? Hoard.
