This Palm Sunday too many churches are standing with Rome cheering the military parade, while on the opposite side of Jerusalem Jesus enters with his followers to shouts of "Hosanna, Save Us". The Prince of Peace is leading the people to confront the empire soldiers in peaceful protest.

The scripture story for this Lent Sunday is about a fox and a hen - a contrast between empire and empathy.

Are we willing to choose vulnerability?

Jesus laments because his people often choose wrongly. And now, I lament, too.

We cry out in despair for your deliverance from this evil in our land. Save us quickly Spirit. Rain justice down like a hurricane. Come swiftly in your anger, oh righteous God to save the vulnerable that you love. 💔

Yesterday we took a larger step into darkness and embraced evil with big open arms. Lord save us from ourselves. Protect the vulnerable from the fear of lies told to bring them to the end of life. We weep at the foot of the cross for what our leaders are bringing to fruition.

Our siblings that believe Spirit differently than the preferred path have felt this distaste longer. So, feel the feelings. Acknowledge this betrayal to death, but know that we are only joining the long list of our predecessors that are betrayed to death by the demon of uber-pale-masculinity.

Our siblings of darker fair, especially of the female persuasion, have lived with this same betrayal for centuries. Our siblings of various understandings of self have lived with this same hurt for just as long, but not as outwardly.

Jesus knew Judas would betray him, yet gave him every opportunity not to do so. Many of us have had a taste of that limbo over the last few years. We knew, but hoped. However, for women of the lighter fair this is the first real taste of this bitter pill.
