The Marks & Spencer story began in 1884 when Michael Marks, a Polish refugee opened a market stall in Leeds. It was ten years later though OTD the 28th September in 1894 that the Marks and Spencer, one of the most recognisable names in retail history was born
one of the most recognisable names in retail history was born when cashier Thomas Spencer from Skipton Invested £300 in the business and the partnership with Michael Marks was created. Their market stalls were call Penny Bazaars
